At Hellacamping, we believe that natural public resources should be easily accessible to the the vast majority of people. State and National governments alike have done a solid job in pursuing that goal by creating various online camping reservation systems.

At times however, these systems can be cumbersome. When the competitive nature of the Online Reservation beat is taken into account, the average user can have a really hard time getting an ideal campsite.

Need Multiple Campsites?

Didn't think about going camping 6 months in advance?

Forget about it.

Many of the online reservation systems operate on a 6-month window for bookings. Some make an attempt at being "fairer" than others by implementing a "rolling window" where campsites become available on a daily basis.

The downside of this is that it incentivizes individuals to book reservations months in advance, when it can be difficult to plan that far out. This is exacerbated by the fact that there is often only a small fee for cancellations. It can be trivial to make multiple reservations only to ultimately cancel them months later for a refund.

The only real way to take advantage of these last-minute cancellations is to check the reservation website multiple times per day on the off-chance someone cancelled a reservation. This sucks. We know, we've done it.
